Vaginal discharge during pregnancy: should you worry?
Most pregnant women have abundant vaginal secretions. This can cause you to lose sleep but do not worry too much. Under the effect of pregnancy hormones, the glands of the cervix and the vagina more actively produce a viscous and clear substance, hence the term white losses. These flows are perfectly normal.
On the other hand, if vaginal discharges are accompanied by itching, burning or unpleasant odours, these are perhaps the signs of mycosis, a disease due to a fungus. And when they are liquid, yellowish, the cause is, in general, a parasite called Trichomonas. But sometimes, the diagnosis is not so obvious, some symptoms, such as fever and urinary burns, may be due to other more or less aggressive germs.
As soon as the discharge seem suspicious, it is important to talk to your gynaecologist. You could also consult our doctors by sending MOM followed by your question by SMS to 8566 (free).
