10 best tips about holiday for a pregnant woman

GiftedMom/21 Sep, 17/2127/0
Pregnancy

A journey during pregnancy is generally not a problem when the woman does not suffer from any complications. It is generally advisable to travel during the second trimester of your pregnancy. In most cases, you got rid of morning sickness in the first trimester and you are at several weeks of the third trimester of pregnancy marked by more fatigue. Discover our best tips for a fun and relaxing break before your baby is born.

     1)  Choose your destination

It is better to choose a place not too far. If possible, it is ideal to avoid traveling to areas where vaccinations are needed during pregnancy.  You should also avoid traveling to areas where there is a risk of contracting a mosquito-borne disease, such as malaria.

     2)  Plan every things in advance

A little thought can help you make the most of your free time. Make a list of all the things you want to take with you. Allow enough time for the trip. This includes giving you regular rest periods and toilet stops, as well as extra delays for any delays.

If you are late, take it as an extra chance to take a nap or a break.  Take a travel pillow to relieve your back on loungers, or as a headrest if you have a long wait.

      3)  Pack your bags carefully

Staying comfortable is more important when you are pregnant. The right clothes, shoes and accessories can make a real difference.

If you are likely to walk a lot, bring comfortable shoes with you. More importantly, if they can be put on and removed easily, in case it becomes difficult to bend. You can also take thermoform pads.

If you are going to be away for more than a few weeks, be sure to pack clothes that will be ideal for your growing belly. When packing your bags, be sure to take into account the temperature variation.

     4)  Enjoy your journey

Whether traveling by car, train, boat or plane, there are many ways to make your journey more comfortable. Try to do simple stretches every hour to minimize swelling, heartburn and leg cramps. If possible, get up and go around everywhere.  Or if you drive, try to take a break at least every hour and a half.

If you start having back pain, try putting a cushion or jumper on the back of your seat before sitting down.  Do not forget to take a lot of water and snacks too.

     5)  Travel simply and relaxed

Pregnancy is the perfect excuse to sit back and enjoy real relaxation.  The rest will help you feel better and give you enough energy to fully enjoy your holidays.

Try to plan several breaks a day, in places where you can relax your feet. Give yourself time to sit down, absorb the atmosphere and recharge your batteries.

If you start to feel tired, why not read for a few minutes, swim quietly, or stay in a hot tub and room service.  Once your energy is restored, you will enjoy your trip more and you could ensure your comfort in priority

       6)  Enjoy the food

Traveling is an excellent opportunity to try different foods and enjoy an even more varied diet.    Delicious fruits, freshly baked bread and spicy dishes are just a few highlights of every holiday. Now you are pregnant, some extra precautions will keep you well if you enjoy local dishes.

It is especially important to drink plenty of water during your pregnancy to avoid dehydration.  Always carry a bottle with you and take sips throughout the day.  This can also help reduce feelings of nausea.

      7)  Make sure to take regular breaks

With all the hard work of developing a baby, it is natural that during pregnancy you are more tired than usual.   Try to use yours holidays to catch up on your sleep and do not hesitate to rest when you need it.  That’s why you take holidays.

You may also find that you need more toilet stops than usual.  If you are concerned about hygiene, take antibacterial tissues for the body to have less trouble.

     8)  Try to do something different

Pregnancy is a good time to slow things down and try to have a quieter holiday.   But you can still enjoy many different activities during your journey. In fact, taking things at a slower pace can allow you to try things you have never considered before.

The most obvious way to make the most of your journey is simply to enjoy your freedom from daily worries. If you want to get around, try gentle activities such as yoga, swimming and walking.

    9)  Use common sense

Of course, there are activities you will need to avoid during pregnancy. These include anything that might make you fall, such as riding and climbing.

Amusement parks are great, especially if you’re having fun with a young child or an active kid. Forced landings and sudden stops will not be good for you or your baby.

A hot tub or hydrotherapy pool is fine, provided it is not too hot.  Avoid the hot tub, as overheating can be dangerous during pregnancy.

     10) Appreciate the attention you will receive

Try not to be embarrassed if you find people caring for your belly rather than your face during your holidays.    Pregnant women are the center of attention and you will be treated in a fun way.

If you really do not like the spotlight, find out how other mothers treat strangers who touch their bellies. In general, try to appreciate the beauty treatments.  Accept open seating and open doors, and do not be afraid to take advantage of help offers.
