10 commandments for parents whose child does not eat
You can worry if your baby refuses to eat. However, do not try to force him, your attitude might well keep his opposition.
Some tips can help you change your attitude. To manage a child who refuses to eat, follow the following commandments:
1) Do not worry!
Your child is normal as evidenced by the clinical examination and the assessment.
2) Do not force him!
Under no circumstances and under no circumstances should you force your child to eat more than he wants.
3) Do not congratulate him!
Do not congratulate your child if he eats. Eating is not an aptitude or a privilege. We eat to eat, not to please mom or dad.
4) Do not give him favors!
If the child does not like such or such dish, offer him a symbolic part without forcing him to taste it or nothing at all. Above all, do not replace the dish refused by another cooked only for him.
5) Limit the time of feeding!
The meal should not last more than half an hour. Do not let your child chew and brood for hours on a small piece of meat or vegetables. Do not force him to finish his dish. Even if the plate is still full, remove it after 10 minutes without comment and without taking a sorry mine, dismayed or angry. The conventional “logic” order: appetizer- main course – dessert is not mandatory for the child.
6) Avoid giving him large portions of food
For children with little appetite, put a small amount on the plate, you can re-serve him if he claims. A full plate is painful to see when there is little appetite. You must put the child in the active position of “applicant” if he still wants dish rather than passive position.
7) Do not give anything between meals
Do not give the child anything to eat between meals. However, you can apply the “security clause” which consists of letting food, food in the kitchen or refrigerator (fruit) that the child can “eat” without your knowledge.
8) Avoid making comments to the child about his / her appetite
Never make comments to the child on his appetite. No punishment if he does not eat! No reward if he eats! Clear the problem of food before him and do not talk about it. Do not show him that it hurts or annoys you if he does not eat. If you are angry, go spend your nerve in another room!
9) Stay away from wacky advice
Do not listen to the wacky, contradictory and messy advice of those around you.
10) No excess
Never forget that eating a lot leads to an increase in the frequency of obesity, high blood pressure, and atherosclerosis.
It is the child who eats too much that should be taken to the doctor and not the one who eat little and develops normally.
It is not because one eats little that one grows slowly; it is because one grows slowly that one eats little!
